The truth about why Gareth Cliff left Idols SA.

It has been a while since Gareth Cliff left Idols SA but we cannot help but miss him all the time when Idols SA play, have you ever wondered why he left? Well, we are about to tell you, so keep reading. Gareth was a judge on Idols SA for 11 amazing seasons. His relationship with Idols SA had been rocky ever since M-NET announced in January of 2016 that he had been fired from the show for comments he had made on twitter that related to racism, he was fired from the show but took M-NET to court over their decision and was re-instated with the order that M-NET pay for legal costs.

However Gareth ended up leaving and this is what he had to say “It's been 11 terrific seasons and I've really had a lot fun, the Idols crew and the other judges are like family, we all get on really well. Most of all I've just a good innings and don't believe you should stay until the after party, if the party was good enough."

However twitter did not believe him, instead they believe that Gareth did not really resign but was allowed to carry on for that year on conditions that he resigns at the end of it. Well, twitter was not really on his side to begin with, after he had been accused of being racist and released a letter of apology during the time of this controversy a lot of them felt like his apology was not making any difference and dragged him for it and continued to call him racist.

Some celebrities defended Gareth Cliff on this situation one of them was Dj Sbu and this is what he said,

“I think the people calling Gareth a racist should first look around at Cliff Central studios and see how many intelligent talented black people he has empowered. I have known this man for many years. He usually tells it like it is and pisses off a lot of people but I bet my last Mofaya can he is the last person to be racist. Keep your head up Gareth Cliff getting fired is nothing new to entrepreneurs. Its time to move from good to Great! All the best for the new year”

Social media can be a dangerous place, twitter especially can get you fired off your job for making statements that are sensitive to a certain group of people, we hope South Africans have learnt a lesson from this situation. Anyway we still miss Gareth on South African Idols, he was an entertaining man and was forever laughing. Do you guys miss Gareth or you were one of the people who were rejoicing when he left?
